Introduction to Printmaking

  • CFA Creative Classroom 428 Main Street New London, NH, 03257 United States (map)

Incorporate your love of gardening and nature by creating an original work of art as a block print! In this workshop, you will learn all aspects of the relief printmaking process using one block, create a unique hand-carved block print and bring home your own original print, as well as the carved block to continue to print more on your own.

You’ll learn:

  • How to transfer a sketch or design to a block (we'll use Speedball softcut blocks for this class).

  • About the various tools used in the printmaking process

  • How to carve printmaking blocks safely, smoothly, and effectively.

  • The best practices for inking and printing.

Please bring at least one simple sketch that you would like to try to turn into a block print. Size should be 4” x 6”. I will also have botanical and floral designs for you to choose from.
