Board of Selectmen Meeting w/Budget and Police Facilities Advisory Committees

  • Whipple Hall 25 Seamans Road New London, NH, 03257 United States (map)

The Selectmen have asked the Budget and PFAC to join them at a meeting on Wednesday, April 23rd at 6:00PM in Whipple to discuss recent developments at the Public Works Department concerning the office/garage on S. Pleasant Street.  The building has been determined to be structurally deficient so it has been vacated by public works staff and temporary office and storage units have been rented and placed on-site.  The town is now in the process of getting information on demolishing the building. In the coming weeks and months we will be working on how best to provide a replacement for this space so that we are able to bring a request for funds at the March 2026 Town Meeting.

The purpose of this joint meeting will be to discuss whether this unexpected expense changes how they will approach the request for funds under Article #3 when voters meet to reconsider it on May 14th. Given that they did not know that the town would need to replace the public works building when the decision to ask voters to approve the purchase of the Garvey land was made, they want to hear from you whether this new information causes you to feel that a change in support for the purchase of land is prudent.

The ultimate decision will be for the voters on May 14th however the selectmen will address this recent event and will offer voters their opinion on whether or not they continue to support the land purchase – your input will help them to form that opinion.
